The rules, in plain words
No fine print. This is everything you agree to when you sign in. Last changed 1 September 2026.
Who this is between
You and KEPAS Technologies of Rombo, Kenya, which runs enabos.com. Reading the board needs no account and no agreement. Signing in means you accept these terms and the privacy page. The board's own rules, rounds, first call, adoption, live on the constitution page.
Your account
Give real details, keep one account, and keep it to yourself. You can change your details or delete the account at any time from your profile.
What you post
Your words stay yours. By posting, you let the site show them under the name you picked, let people vote on them, and let the bench build what they describe. Do not post other people's private details, abuse, spam, or anything that is illegal in Kenya or where you live. KEPAS can tidy a post for clarity, archive it, or delete it if it breaks this, and will say so on the post or to you directly.
Votes and rounds
Voting runs in 72-hour rounds. The most voted idea wins, the bench builds it, and votes reset when the next round opens. One vote per person per nabo. If something goes wrong with a round, a bug or vote stuffing, we can pause or rerun it and we say why on the board. If the person who posted the winner cannot be reached for 14 days after the win, their nabo is archived and the board moves on.
The licence
An idea is posted under Apache 2.0 or GPL 2.0 or later, chosen by the poster and final once posted. It covers the code written for that project; the packages it depends on keep their own licences. Everything built off the board is open to everyone under that licence, including you and anyone who adopts it.
The owner's first call
When a nabo is finished, the person who posted it decides first: take it live themselves, with our support, or open it for others to adopt. First call lasts 90 days from the day the project is finished; if the owner has not decided by then, it opens for adoption on its own. That is a say over who runs it, not ownership of the code, which stays open either way.
The bench
Contributing is voluntary. It is not a job, not a contract and not employment with KEPAS. Awards to the top three come out of what people gave, on the rule published on the support page. If nothing came in, nothing goes out. Payouts go to the M-Pesa number or bank account on your profile, through KEPAS Pay.
Gifts
A gift is a donation, not a purchase. You get nothing in return except our thanks and, if you want it, your name on the support page. No refunds, except a genuine mistake reported within seven days. Every shilling in and every shilling out is listed on the support page, by month.
Adoption pledges
A pledge is voluntary, a flat amount, and public. It is split 60% to the team that built the project, 20% to the person who posted it, and 20% to keeping the site up. A pledge buys no exclusivity and no say over the code. Your name goes on the project page as its adopter. That is all. Adoption is African-led: adopters are African people, companies, groups or governments, and anyone from outside the continent adopts jointly with an African partner.
This site's own code
The code of enabos.com itself is not open, because it holds people's details. The projects built off the board are.
No promises
The site and the projects come as they are. We work to keep the site up and the information right, but we cannot promise that a nabo gets built, that an expected date holds, or that the site is never down. Use what is built at your own judgement.
Ending things
You can leave whenever you like by deleting your account. We can close an account that breaks these rules, and we tell you why.
Law and disagreements
Kenyan law applies. If we disagree about something, write to us first at [email protected]. Most things are sorted with one email.
Changes to these terms
When they change, the date at the top changes. Anything that affects what you agreed to is announced on the board before it takes effect.
